Built in 1913 for Northern Electric, Le Nordelec is a prime example of Montréal’s historic industrial architecture and is one of the largest heritage brick buildings in North America. It was converted into New York loft style condos in the mid-2000s. Its luxurious shared amenities include a fitness centre, a rooftop terrace with barbecues and a pool, as well as a swanky communal lounge with a fireplace and pool table. Conveniently, several businesses, shops and restaurants also call the building home, so you don’t have far to go to find a bite to eat on a cold winter’s day. One of Le Nordelec’s best features is that it’s right on the Lachine Canal, across from trendy Griffintown, where you’ll find antique stores, art galleries, and tons of hip bars and restaurants like Le Bureau. It’s also near to the foodie heaven known as Atwater Market. The canal is a National Historic Site as well as an urban park, with a 13.5 km bike path that extends from Montréal’s charming Old Port to the picturesque Lachine Museum. For other modes of transportation, Charlevoix metro is a ten-minute walk away, and the highway is within easy access. Please note that the monthly rate is seasonal.
