Floating House by SM Studio is now live online and will soon appear on international newsstands. As the story reveals, "Every house this Vancouver designer builds is a vanishing act." Completed in 2023 on the western ridge of Bowen Island, this owner-designer residence by Simon Montgomery of SM Studio sits low on bedrock between two old-growth stumps, with living volumes cantilevering southwest into the forest. Cedar siding, a weathered steel roof, Douglas fir interiors, and Caesarstone surfaces form a quiet material palette engineered around light, privacy, and direct trail access from the back door. Read the full story online and discover why this rare Bowen Island retreat marks a defining contemporary chapter in West Coast Modern architecture. (id:374)
